VOLUNTEERS

Waukesha NAACP Legal Redress joins the NAACP Wisconsin State Conference of Branches, Legal Redress Committee to recruit volunteer attorneys to assist members of the Wisconsin NAACP community in obtaining valuable legal resources.

We encourage partnerships with existing legal organizations in order to share resources and recruit new members.
The Legal Redress Committee also seeks to implement professional and educational development initiatives for law students and new attorneys throughout Wisconsin’s communities.
Activities of Legal Redress
The Legal Redress Committee shall:

Investigate all cases reported to it;

Supervise all litigation in which the Unit is interested; and

Keep the State Office and the Branch informed on the progress of every case.

The NAACP Legal Redress members do NOT give legal advice.

Hotline Captain
Serve as Captains for the Election Protection hotline (866-OUR-VOTE) with the NAACP and its coalition partners

Call Center
Staff NAACP call centers on Election Day.
Polling Place Voter Assistance and Troubleshooting - Provide election protection assistance at polling locations during early voting periods and on election day.

Advise NAACP Local Units
Assist NAACP State Conferences and Local Units in their efforts to protect the right to vote.
Litigation Support
Provide subject-matter expertise on real-time challenges to exercising the right to vote, including responding to instances of voter suppression.
