“The Right to Read” shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.”
On Saturday, February 22, 2025, the NAACP Dane County Education Committee invites you and the members of your Church to a screening of the acclaimed documentary film “The Right to Read,” produced by LaVar Burton. The documentary explores the journey taken by NAACP activist, Kareem Walker to uplift the low reading scores of Black school-aged children in his hometown. Walker states that in his opinion, childhood literacy is the paramount civil rights issue of our era!
